Act for Nature

Nature is in a state of decline.

Habitat destruction, invasive species, climate change, and natural disasters are the biggest threats to nature.

We need a government that will implement strong national environment laws that actually protect nature from a rapidly warming climate, land-clearing, and over-extraction, and an independent regulator to enforce them.

We need a government that is ready and willing to fund the recovery of Australia’s threatened species and the restoration of ecosystems. It is critical that we take action now to protect and restore our natural environment in order to mitigate the impacts of climate change and for the benefit of future generations.

We need strong National Environmental Standards to protect the wildlife, plants and places we love.

We need a strong independent federal regulator to enforce strong nature laws and standards.

We need laws that allow access to justice for third parties so that the community has a legal voice in standing up for the environment.

Nature laws that truly value and incorporate the rights, knowledge and culture of First Nations people.

We need a quantum leap in investment for threatened species, habitat and ecosystem recovery and threat abatement, including better monitoring, data collection and evaluation.
